The versatile artist Jiří Suchý graduated from the Glass School in Nový Bor. He then studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague under the internationally renowned Czech architect, designer, and glass artist Prof. Bořek Šípek. For more than a decade, he also taught at the Glass School in Nový Bor before deciding to devote himself exclusively to his artistic work. He primarily focuses on cast sculptures, blown glass, and painting. In his works, he plays with the ambiguity of meanings and words. He encourages the viewer to reflect on the feelings, views, and thoughts contained in his works. The expressive part of his work is clearly evident in his paintings. A special feature is that he creates his paintings using hot glass taken directly from the glass furnace. He currently works as a professor at the Toyama Institute of Glass Art in Japan.

Jiří Suchý about his work: I try to tell stories in such a way that people reflect on the essence of what they see and that it evokes emotions in them.
